Please read Gurudev's book Chapter 4 - verses 16 - 18 (Pages 40-50)
My spiritual journey started with contemplation on Gurudev’s quotes. Once I came across the quote “Not to do what we feel like doing is called freedom.” One cannot understand this completely until they start living this principle and also understand the deeper purport of this quote. Freedom is not getting swayed by likes and dislikes of our mind. Any act in the world outside when done in the garb of ego whether it is act of pursuing knowledge or following the principles of Dharma will only give a boost to that ego. Even more a Satvik ego is subtler than other forms of ego and very difficult to detect. The day we identify the Satvik ego and work on eliminating it, we achieve the freedom of daily living. Hence “Read daily, discriminate ruthlessly and live fully” - Swami Chinmayananda
ReplyDeleteTotal Freedom is cessation of Ego and acceptance of the outcome in the world of samsara as a Bhagwan’s prasada. It’s challenging to practice this without a trained mind and intellect in our day to day life . Our vedantic scriptures hence guide us to practice swadhyaya ; Shravanam , Mananam and Nidhidhyasanam are to be strictly followed . As Gurudev beautifully gives a real world example of a pole vaulter using a pole to cross the bar and let’s go of pole to cross the barrier. We need to use our mind and intellect to dissolve them ( mind and intellect ) completely and experience the self - the ever present awareness . My total freedom comes from being instinctive as it comes from the heart and not to be affected by the outcome 🙏🙏🙏
